📝 Description

Our Full Spectrum Irish Sea Moss Gel

We make our Full Spectrum Irish Sea Moss Gel exclusively from authentic Chondrus crispus, the true Irish sea moss, sourced from protected waters along the Atlantic coast of West Ireland.

A lot of sea moss gels on the market are made from warm-water species such as Eucheuma or Gracilaria. Those are different plants. Chondrus crispus is the traditional species, valued for its mineral profile, clean taste and Atlantic origin. That is all we use.

Full spectrum comes down to the drying. This sea moss is shade-dried at low temperatures so more of its natural colour stays in the plant: the deeper reds, purples and earthy tones you get from cold Atlantic water. Our Gold gel is the same Irish species, just lighter in colour and a little milder in look. This jar keeps more of the plant’s natural pigment.

Harvested from Protected Irish Waters
The sea moss is harvested at selected times of year, when the Chondrus crispus is at the right stage. The harvesting areas are protected and regularly tested to help keep the growing environment clean. After collection it is carefully cleaned and shade-dried at low temperatures to help hold its colour, texture and character.

Shade-Dried for Natural Colour
Sun-finished gold sea moss has a lighter, familiar look. Shade-drying leaves more of the original colour in the fronds, which then shows through in the gel. The result is a deeper, richer jar without changing the ingredients: still just Irish sea moss and spring water.

Ingredient Purity
Our Irish sea moss is organically certified and independently tested by our suppliers for heavy metals, bacteria, mycotoxins and other contaminants. No fillers, gums, preservatives or additives. Just authentic Chondrus crispus and spring water.

Plastic-Free Blending Process
Every batch is blended in stainless steel equipment, with no plastic contact during blending. That keeps the process cleaner and helps give the gel a smooth texture and consistent look.

A Richer, More Concentrated Gel
We use a generous ratio of dried sea moss in every batch, so the gel stays thick rather than thin. Shade-drying plus a cell wall breakdown process brings out a distinctively rich colour. Handmade in small batches each time, with a clean, distinctive smell and taste.

Nutrient-Dense Atlantic Seaweed
Irish sea moss is a natural source of minerals including iodine, magnesium, calcium, potassium and iron. These help support normal body functions such as energy metabolism, normal muscle function and normal cognitive function. It also contains natural plant polysaccharides, which give the gel its smooth texture.

Why Quality Matters
Species, origin, harvesting, drying and gel ratio all affect the finished product. Ours comes from Chondrus crispus that grows on rocks in cold Atlantic waters, not rope-farmed warm-water varieties. Full Spectrum is the shade-dried version of that same Irish sea moss, with more of the natural colour left in.

Irish Sea Moss, also known as Chondrus Crispus, or Carrageen is a species of red algae that grows naturally along the rocky Atlantic coastlines of Ireland, Europe, and North America. Although classified as “red” algae, this vibrant seaweed can show hues of deep purple, green, and blue depending on its natural pigment levels which reflects its rich content of phycoerythrin and chlorophyll, powerful antioxidants that support overall wellness.

A common dosage is 1-2 tablespoons of sea moss gel per day, but it’s best to start small and adjust based on your body’s response.

Sea Moss Gel can be added to a variety of foods including soups, stews, blended into smoothies, tea, coffee, or can be enjoyed straight from the spoon.

The term “Irish Sea Moss” is often used to describe a variety of seaweeds, but not all are the same species. True Irish sea moss refers specifically to Chondrus crispus, a red algae native to the cool Atlantic coasts of Ireland and parts of North America.

Other types of sea moss—such as GracilariaEucheumaMastocarpus stellatusChondrus canaliculatus, and Chondracanthus chamissoi—are commonly found in warmer Caribbean or Pacific waters. While each has its own nutritional value and traditional use, Chondrus crispus is especially prized for its unique properties, mineral content, and centuries of historical use in Irish diets.

Yes! Our Sea Moss is certified organic, subjected to comprehensive laboratory testing for nutritional analysis, mycotoxins and heavy metal screening, and harvested using sustainable environmental practices.

Not all sea moss is created equal. Some seaweed harvesters sell seaweeds that aren’t certified for human consumption, which can be risky. That’s why it’s so important to buy from reputable sellers who make sure their sea moss is safe and certified.

  1. Refrigeration: Always keep sea moss gel in an airtight glass jar in the refrigerator. This helps preserve its freshness and prevents contamination.
  2. Temperature: Store it at or below 5°C (40°F) to maintain its texture and nutrient quality.
  3. Freezing (Optional): For longer storage, you can freeze sea moss gel in ice cube trays for easy portioning. This can extend its shelf life significantly.
  • Refrigerated: Fresh sea moss gel typically lasts 3 weeks if stored properly.
  • Frozen: When frozen, sea moss gel can last 3 to 6 months without losing its nutritional value.

Tips for Freshness:

  • Always use a clean spoon to scoop the gel to avoid introducing bacteria.
  • If you notice mold, or discoloration, discard the gel immediately.

Yes! you can freeze sea moss gel.

Sea moss gel will last up to 6 months in the freezer.

'Purple' Sea Moss is a term used for the natural Sea Moss which hasn't been 'bleached' by the sun. Though, it can have a variety of colours such as red, green, purple, gold/yellow.

Sea moss gel is a pure, unadulterated blend of sea moss and water, retaining more nutrients. Its versatility shines in smoothies, teas, or face masks, offering full control over use without unnatural additives. Sea moss gummies, while convenient and portable, often contain wax, oils, sugars and preservatives like citric acid or artificial sweeteners, diluting purity and limiting versatility.

Choose sea moss gel for a natural, multi-use product with no shelf-life-extending chemicals.
